CSRD Training - Double materiality and ESRS

As a CSR manager or financial director within your company, are you facing the impact of the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive)? CAP Conseil has designed a tailor-made training and support program specifically adapted to your needs.

Since the beginning of 2023, we have conducted several double materiality exercises, which have allowed us to develop relevant tools that we offer to integrate into this training program. These tools are designed to help you effectively navigate the requirements of the CSRD, providing you with the necessary resources to implement an efficient process.

Objectives

Through numerous examples, advice based on our experience, and concrete tools at your disposal, you will understand the ins and outs of the CSRD and its standards, the ESRS. You will be ready to report with confidence.

Moreover, this training will help you develop or improve your sustainable development strategy by focusing on your most relevant ESG issues and proposing the right indicators.

Content

We start with an in-depth analysis of European legislation, including the Green Deal, the CSRD, the Taxonomy, and the Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDDD). Next, we will examine in detail the fundamental principles of reporting related to the ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards) and their concrete implications for sustainable reporting for companies.

We also thoroughly review the following elements:

  • Understanding the context
  • Mapping your value chain
  • Identifying your Impacts, Risks, and Opportunities (IRO)
  • Consulting your stakeholders
  • Assessing the materiality (relevance) of the IROs and determining the threshold
  • Identifying relevant indicators and analyzing gaps (missing information to be compliant)
  • Analyzing the ESRS with a specific focus on ESRS E1 and S1
  • Understanding the implications for corporate governance
  • Organizing information collection and getting an overview of available tools
  • Writing the report and understanding the reporting requirements
  • Communicating

For each step, we provide numerous examples, practical tips, and necessary tools to meet the requirements of the CSRD and the ESRS.

Our educational approach is diverse and interactive, based on our ten years of experience as a certified GRI trainer.

We systematically combine the theoretical aspect with practical applications, notably through group exercises. Additionally, we integrate collective intelligence tools and techniques to foster engagement and collaboration within the group.

You will leave with solid knowledge and tools that you can directly apply, all in a positive atmosphere.

Day 1:

  • The value chain
  • The list of IRO (Impacts, Risks, and Opportunities)
  • Stakeholder consultation
  • Determining the materiality threshold

Day 2:

  • Analysis of the ESRS with a specific focus on ESRS 2 and E1
  • Implications for corporate governance
  • Calculating taxonomy-related indicators (Deborah Fischer from RSM)
  • Preparing for the audit (Deborah Fischer from RSM)
  • Translating the ESRS into responsible, 'anti-bullshit' communication (Claire Lheureux – FAAST)

Our educational approach is diverse and interactive, based on our ten years of experience as a GRI trainer.

ISO 26000 training

The 1/2 day formula: practical session

1 day: Brain-training

2 days: strategic seminar

It takes at least half a day to address in a concrete way the ISO 26000 Guidelines without falling into a pure theoretical learning. We must have time to see a methodology, specific tips and tricks, links with tools you already know.

We have often found out that a two hour ex cathedra conference does not satisfy participants, who then miss some practice and background when they want to implement the guidelines in their business. In this case, individual coaching can be arranged afterwards.

This formula is perfect for large groups, or a steering committee that wants to be quickly familiar with the standard and its policy issues.

One day of “brain-training” on ISO 26000 does suit for a small group, which then receives besides the three hours of the presentation, exercises, practical implementation and case studies. It is often that we give this formula “in-house”, when the management of a company wants to challenge its strategy and work with its team in charge of sustainable development and/or social responsibility. We give this course also in university seminars.

This two day formula is the one we practice for an audience of 15-20 representatives of organizations: it is a high-level strategic workshop in which ISO 26000 is reviewed in depth, in a dynamic and participatory way, to both give plenty of illustrative case studies to participants and to work on the SR of their own organization. This strategic workshop is usually conducted by two senior ISO 26000 experts involved in the process of developing the guidelines.

Participants are usually members of the management.

ISO 20400 training

ISO 20400 is the upcoming international standard on responsible procurement (SP). Under the form of guidelines – non certifiable – it explains why and how to integrate considerations of sustainability inside the procurement activities of organizations, as part of their social responsibility.

The ISO 26000 guidelines on social responsibility are a strong source of reference for this standard. They define the scope of what is understood under sustainability applied to all types of organizations.

The one day training

The starting point of the dynamic is to realize the huge potential of the purchasing decisions and activities to align the overall sustainability ambition of an organization with the daily act of buying, and to extend sustainability practices into the supply chain.

Step by step, our training will lead you into the logic of the guidelines:

  • What? The concept: what do we mean by SP?
  • Why? The rationale: the impacts inside and outside of a bad or good procurement
  • Who? The responsibilities: who should do what, at each level of the organization?
  • How? The commitments, the enablers and the integration into the procurement process

The entire training is illustrated with business cases, exercises and examples of tools for mapping an addressing the risks and opportunities along your supply chain.

It addresses both public and private organizations.

This training is for you

if you are in charge of sustainability and/or procurement activities in your organization
if you have a basic knowledge of social responsibility
if you are a pioneer and want to be up to date with the best practices of procurement at international level
